Here's the weather forecast for the 2008 Walt Disney World Marathon, which happens on Sunday, January 13, 2008.  Though we are still 7 days away, the weather forecast for next Sunday is a low of 53 and a high of 80.

At least in terms of the marathon (meaning roughly 4am to 1pm), this is average for January.  The average low temperature for Walt Disney World on January 13 is 51 degrees.  The average high isn't as relevant since it tends to occur mid to late afternoon, but for the records the average high for January 13 is 71 degrees.

Still not ready :)  I'm thinking a 6 hour marathon would be good.  My best time was 5:28, but that was five years ago -- and perhaps 25 pounds ago :)  I really need to get in better shape in 2008 - and get set for the January 2009 Walt Disney World Marathon.

I posted an article a long time ago about signing up for the 2008 Walt Disney World Marathon.  I'm not really ready.  I make no excuses that my priorities in my life are my wife and son first.  But in any case, I'm sure it would have been better to train more :)  Wish me Luck!

2008 Walt Disney World Marathon Training Update (August 2006)

Here's an update to my post about deciding to run the 2008 Walt Disney World Marathon.  It's the end of August 2006 and for the record I put in 3 moderate runs this month on a treadmill, consisting of distances of 4, 7 and 8 miles.  I've decided that it's better to run one "long" run per week than to do a few runs of a very short distance (less than 2 miles).  Plenty of time left to train for the 2008 Walt Disney World Marathon and I'm glad I'm off to a good start.

2008 Walt Disney World Marathon

I have decided to run the 2008 Walt Disney World Marathon.  It's a cool race that I successfully ran 3 years ago and have only partially succeeded since then.  Due to other priorities, I won't be available when it is run in January 2007.  Thus, I'll be running it in January 2008.  This gives me plenty of time to train, something I've never really done before.  Right now I'm a bit heavier than I'd like, so I'd like to drop 15 pounds or so prior to the race.  I'll post updates as I progress.  I've only recently begun to run again, and just 1 mile twice a week.  Obviously, I've got a long way to go!
